Win Tickets To The Traveling Imaginary

We have a pair of tickets to give away to The Music Tapes show The Traveling Imaginary (featuring Julian Koster of Neutral Milk Hotel) presented by Transmission Events, tomorrow night at Austin Scottish Rite Theater. Send us an e-mail at and tell us you’d like to go and we’ll pick a winner at random!

The Traveling Imaginary

Have you heard about The Traveling Imaginary yet? This Sunday our friends Transmission Events are bringing this new project from The Music Tapes to Austin Scottish Rite Theater and they’ve given us a pair of tickets to give away!

As soon as audiences walk through the door, they will be greeted with surreal, carnival-esque games before entering the tent for a dreamlike show, antique 16mm cartoons, virtuoso Klezmer music performed on the singing saw, unique narratives about dehydrated European cities and half-imagined children’s games from Julian Koster of Neutral Milk Hotel, a 12-foot snowman, and an array of mechanical musical contraptions like the 7-Foot Tall Metronome and Static the Singing Television.

We’ll be giving away a pair of tickets later this week. Stay tuned!

Silver Ships debut album coming soon

Like peering through the glass of a dusty super eight lens, Silver Ships gives the listener a glimpse into what once was. Full of heart, honesty and delicate craftsmanship each song melds rock and roll nostalgia with warm indie-folk sensibilities. Recorded in a home laboratory of analog relics, this earnest collection of songs is dappled with fuzzy vintage organs, irresistibly catchy pop hooks, sing-along harmonies, and melodramatic dirges. Written, recorded and produced by Silver Ships creator Chazz Bessette with production assistance from Kat Hernandez the album is truly a labor of love. For virtuosic multi-instrumentalist Bessette, who began playing in bands when he was very young and played nearly every instrument on the record, this body of work has been a lifetime coming.

Stay tuned for updates on the official release date of the album, coming sometime this summer.  Get a preview of the album here

SORNE Kickstarter - 41 hours to make the goal!

So close - less than $1400 to go! Austin artist/musician SORNE has 41 hours to make his $15,000 Kickstarter goal.  SORNE is one of our favorite local artists and we hope you will check out his video and consider supporting the project.

Some art from his upcoming album:image

Crowd funding is an awesome way to sock it to the man and let the fans chose which artists make it to the top without the aide of labels and big corporations.  Become a part of the next chapter and support local art! Ever dollar counts -  if you can’t chip in right now you can still help out by sharing this link!
